Overhead rods and reels are used for bottom reef bouncing for a huge variety of bottom reef species including Wrasse, Pearl perch, Cobia, Amberjack, Samson fish, Snapper, Cod and many more.
Heavy duty Penn Spinfisher combos are employed for float lining, live baiting, spinning and some jigging. These out fits are great to use for everything from Tailor right through to large pelagic surface swimming fish like Mackerel, Black marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo etc.
Your crew will provide, defrost and cut up a range of bait including Pilchards, Squid and strip baits. Where possible the deckhand will jig for live bait to set and use to target the bigger fish species. During the Summer months lures including rubber skirts and hard bodies are used also.
The Crew
MV “Fat hooker” has a couple of regular skippers and deckhands, all are proficient seaman and seasoned fisherman that possess a wealth of local fishing knowledge and experience. The skipper will take you out to the best local reefs where the fish are hungry. Once over the reef your friendly deckhand will demonstrate how to use the equipment safely, how to put bait on your hook, and finally how to hook and catch the fish that are lurking below on the reef structure.
At the end of the day your crew will gill and gut your catch and provide heavy duty bags for you to get it home, if required the guys will also provide recipes and cooking tips so you can enjoy your seafood feast with your family.
